The Audi A3 is 25 years old
Its amazing to think that the Audi A3 will be 25 years old this year and from day one to today, it has really come a long way advancing each and every refresh.
With its latest refresh and as a premium alternative to the Volkswagen Golf, the Audi A3 is still a head turner and a little bit more connected than before.
The Refreshed Audi A3
The Audi A3 now comes in the 5 door Sportback version and the 4 door saloon, the refresh has brought sharper lines, sharper finishes and a more aggresive grill.
The interior is all new, they’re heading towards amore Tesla-esque interior, feeling very minimalist. The main focus, just like the VW Golf and the Seat Leon is the “Digital” side of driving. This means a 10.1″ touchscreen display in the dash and a 10.25″ digital instrument display.
Comfortwise there is plenty of space for four adults and it gives comfortable space for long journeys, where allowed. It gives plenty of headspace so no brylcream on the headlining.
There are more touch controls in the vehicle before, with the scroll wheels being deleted. Very similar direction to where Mercedes have taken their latest vehicles on touch-sensitive pads, etc.
Engines and Performance
The Audi A3 comes with a good range of engines, shared across the Volkswagen platorm, this includes the 1.0l and the 1.5l petrol, 1.5l and 2.0l diesel vehicle, some of which can be paired with a manual or an automatic dual-clutch gearbox.
Audi A3 Plugin-Hybrid
If you’re in the market to make the move to an electric vehicle, Audi offer the Audi A3 in a Plugin Hybrid (PHEV) version. These already tried and tested drive trains are excellent and utilising a short-term scheme can hellp with fleet transition from fossil fuels to eventually fully electric.
Technology
The cars are all packed with technology and has the Car-2-X system as seen on VW as well as driver assistance systems such as collision detection and lane departure control.
