Q&A’s on the Jaguar I-Pace

Jaguar I-Pace

Since we have pushed our latest 12 month car lease on the Jaguar I-Pace, interest in this fully electric vehicle has really got momentum.

Many of the enquiries we have received on the Jaguar I-Pace are from fleet managers or company car drivers who want to make the switch to a fully electric car but like the comfort of being able to drop into a petrol station when the tank is low.

So we thought we’d take all of the recent questions and put them in this article, to help you decide whether or not the Jaguar I-Pace can fit into your lifestyle.

Questions & Answers

What is the range of the Jaguar I-Pace?

The range of all electric cars can be confusing, many of the manufacturers state the WLTP figure which for the I-Pace is 288 miles. However, this doesn’t really take into account real world driving, devices such as heaters and heated seats. The colder weather can also have an effect on the battery range.

Whilst we have been driving these vehicles and with feedback from our delivery drivers, realistically you can get as little as 180 miles to around 245 miles from the battery on a full charge.

Can I get a home charger fitted?

Yes, you can and depending on the lenght of the contract with ourselves, you may qualify for an OLEV grant to subsidise the cost of having a home wall box fitted.

How much company car tax will I pay for the Jaguar I-Pace?

The amount of benefit-in-kind tax you will pay on the Jaguar I-Pace will vary depending on whether your a basic or higher tax payer. However, the taxable benefit of our current vehicles based on the new 6th April 2021 figures will be approx. £678 for the tax year 2021-2022.

Can I use the Tesla Supercharger Network to charge the I-Pace?

Currently, Jaguar do not have a partnership with Tesla to enable charging from their supercharger network.

What is the best phone app to find electric charging points?

We’d highly recommend downloading Zap Map for both Android and Apple devices, it also helps you forward plan your trips and is being updated all of the time.

Members of the public also feedback to the app, whether the charger is actually working, which stops you from turning up for a charge and it being out of order.

Can I specify options on your 12 month car leases?

No, unfortunately due to the nature of the short-term car lease business, all vehicles are in-stock and ready to be delivered. We’re not able to order a vehicle on a shorter contract to your required specification.

If you are looking for a longer-term lease on a Jaguar I-Pace, we’d highly recommend using our Find a Car Lease service.

Can I choose the colour of the I-Pace?

Yes, you can choose from the I-Paces that are in-stock and as of today, we have the following available:

  • Santorini Black
  • Eiger Grey
  • Caesium Blue
  • Fuji White
  • Borasco Grey

Does the Jaguar I-Pace come with free charging?

No, unfortunately the Jaguar I-Pace does not come with free charging and like with a fossil fuelled vehicle, you will be responsible for charging (fuelling) the vehicle.

You are able to use the wide range of public chargers across the UK (Memberships maybe required) or you can have a wall box fitted at your home or workplace.

How much does it cost me to charge the I-Pace at home?

According to Zap Map, on a home charger the approx. cost of charging the Jaguar I-Pace is £12.60 based on 14p/kWh electricity tariff.

If you are planning to charge your Jaguar at home, we’d highly recommend Octopus Energy’s Agile or Go tariff. Click on the link to bag both parties £50 when you sign up to Octopus Energy.

What type of Electric Vehicle is the Jaguar I-Pace?

The Jaguar I-Pace is classed as a Battery Electric Vehicle, usually abbreviated to BEV.

This means that the car is purely electric and does not have a combustion engine.

Do Jaguar offer a Hybrid I-Pace?

No, currently the Jaguar I-Pace is only available as a fully electric vehicle. It is in the rumour mill that the E-Pace and the F-Pace will become plugin hybrids in the not too distant future.

What does kWh mean?

kWh is Kilowatt-Hours, this is a measure of how much energy can be stored in the battery. The current in-stock i-Paces’ have a 90 kWh battery. The greater the kWh the longer the range.

Can temperature affect the range?

In both very hot weather and cold temperatures, the range of an electric vehicle can be reduced as energy is used to keep the battery at the correct operating temperature.

Energy is also used from the battery to run things like heaters for the cabin and heated seats.

Do you offer the Jaguar on a Car Subscription?

Yes, we currently have a range of Jaguar Car Subscriptions available, these are great for those who want fixed cost motoring with one payment that covers the motoring essentials such as maintenance & servicing, breakdown assistance and road tax.
