7 Seat Hybrid?
Although you can order a traditional ICE BMW X5 as a 7-seater version, the 50e Hybrid is only available as a 5-seat due to the location of the batteries. If you need a 7-seat plug-in hybrid, you need to stick to the Audi Q7 or the Volvo XC90.
Fiddly Climate Control
Gone are the buttons to change the fan speed, temperature or direction of the wind. This has moved to the ICE system and can prove fiddly. But once you get used to it, you will never look back. The amount of control you have over the climate control is excellent, especially if you opt for items such as 4-zone climate and heated steering wheel.
Curved Touchscreen
Whilst curved LED Televisons never took off, the introduction of curved touchscreens in the BMW X5 should not be overlooked. You’ll never want a flat screen again. The design allows you to easily see the screen and lessens eye strain. Brilliant!
Mild Hybrids
All of the 2023 BMW X5 ICE’s have some sort of Mild-Hybrid system allowing you to roll up to the traffic lights on battery, or creep during a traffic jam. If you change the drive mode to ECO then the car will prioritise the hybrid system when it can.
Sensafin Seat Upholstery
BMW has introduced SensaTex animal-free faux-leather in the 2023 BMW X5, this is called Sensafin. It’s comfortable and not disimilar to the material used in other manufacturers vehicles. Real leather is available as an optional extra.
