Streaming Apps for Apple CarPlay
Gone are the days where CD players are installed in the latest cars and vans, bluetooth streaming from your device has been commonplace for a while and today most cars are fitted with Apple CarPlay as standard.
We’ve already covered the best radio apps for Apple CarPlay, so today we’re going to look at Music Streaming apps.
All of the apps below have been tested by the team at Cocoon Vehicles and we have narrowed it down to what we feel are the best 3 at the moment.
Best 3 Streaming Apps for Apple CarPlay
Amazon Prime Music
Amazon are really trying to make a move into the music streaming business, especially for Prime members.
They have recently increased their library of songs from 2 million to 100 millions songs, all ad-free!
On top of that they have all of the popular podcasts available as well as copies of all of the CD Albums you have previously purchased from Amazon.
We love the discovery playlists, its a playlist designed on what you’ve listened to previously and it updates every Monday. If you like one of the songs just Save it for later.
Alexa integration is built directly into the app with the ability to stream the music around your house as well as your car.
Apple Music
We are Apple Fanboys in the Cocoon Vehicles office, from Macbooks to iPads, so iCloud and Apple Subscriptions come as part of the set-up.
Due to the storage we require on iCloud, we have subscribed to Apple One but there are various ways to subscribe to Apple Music.
Also, if you purchase specific apple products, you will receive a trial of Apple Music, usually for around 6 months, so make sure you check this out to gain access to over 100 million ad-free songs.
Our favourite section of Apple Music is “Music 1” – its a radio station from Apple that brings you some of the latest music around.
If you are a Spotify user switching to Apple, there are plenty of Shortcuts available to easily transfer these across.
Spotify
One of the most popular music streaming services is of course Spotify. They still offer this free ad-covered service, which is ideal for listening to Podcasts.
As we know Spotify integrates nicely into Apple CarPlay and also Alexa in your home, with the ability to stream to your preferred room or even the whole house.
We love the Podcasts on Spotify and there are some really good exclusives available including the Rob Beckett and Josh Widdecombe Parenting Hell Podcast.

Integration into Apple CarPlay
All of the apps above have a fantastic and easy to use visual interface for Apple CarPlay and all of them allow Siri commands such as “Play songs by Coldplay on Spotify”
